Skylar Robinson, a talented young athlete from Los Angeles Junipero Serra, just made a big decision. He’s heading to North Carolina and is the first recruit for Bill Belichick’s 2027 class. Pretty exciting stuff!
In an interview with On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Skylar shared his thoughts:
“The UNC coaching staff and GM Lombardi have been incredibly involved in my recruitment and it already feels like home to me. I’ve witnessed them building something truly special and for them to want me to be a part of that is an honor.”
Family ties make this move even more special. Skylar’s older brother, Jason Robinson, transferred to UNC earlier this year on January 11.
Skylar said, “Being coached by one of the greatest of all time and having the chance to play alongside my big brother has always been a dream of mine so the opportunity to do that means a lot to me.”
While he’s the first to join the 2027 crew, the Tar Heels are already working hard on their 2026 lineup. And they’re doing pretty well.
So far, four prospects have committed to the Tar Heels for 2026:
- Marcellous Ryan, a cornerback from Junipero Serra
- Justin Lewis, a CB from Los Angeles Rancho Cucamonga
- Zaid Lott, a quarterback from Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day
- Jaden Jefferson, a CB from Concord (Calif.) De La Salle
With signing day still over 10 months away, who knows what other surprises might be in store?
