4-Star QB Exits UCLA Concluding Nico Iamaleava Saga image

UCLA quarterback Dermaricus Davis has announced his transfer to Hawaii, completing a total overhaul of the Bruins’ quarterback room this offseason.

Davis, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound signal-caller, was a four-star recruit from California who initially signed with Washington before transferring to UCLA. He has not appeared in a college game.

The move follows UCLA’s addition of Tennessee transfer Nico Iamaleava, who will likely take over starting duties for the Bruins.

UCLA has completely reshaped its quarterback depth chart this spring. The program also brought in Nico’s brother Madden Iamaleava from Arkansas and Pierce Clarkson from Louisville.

Former Bruins quarterback Joey Aguilar transferred to Tennessee, creating an unusual quarterback exchange between the programs.

Hawaii stands to benefit significantly from Davis’s decision. The Rainbow Warriors rarely land players with his recruiting pedigree.

This represents one of the most comprehensive quarterback room transformations in recent memory, even in the current transfer portal era.

The Bruins will face increased scrutiny when the season begins as observers evaluate whether this quarterback overhaul translates to on-field success.
