Oscar Rios Eyes Oklahoma State for Next Big Move
Oscar Rios, a talented four-star quarterback from Downey, California, is making headlines again. He’s set to visit Oklahoma State officially from April 25-27. He shared the news on social media this Monday.
Once committed to Purdue, Rios was their first recruit for the 2026 cycle. However, he changed his mind and decommitted on October 2 after being with them since last June.
Now, it seems like Oklahoma State might be the next big thing for Rios. The Cowboys only offered him a spot on January 28, and now he’s planning a visit. That’s pretty quick progress!
Rios has some impressive stats under his belt. As a sophomore, he threw for 2,633 yards and scored 23 touchdowns, plus he rushed for 767 yards and added seven more scores. His junior year was just as stellar with 2,554 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 735 rushing yards with 11 touchdowns on the ground.
He led his team, Downey, to a solid 9-2 season, although they fell short in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs against Gardena’s Junipero Serra.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 170 pounds, Rios is ranked as the nation’s No. 252 overall prospect for 2026. That ranking comes from the On3 Industry Ranking, which averages the insights of four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 17 QB in his class and the No. 29 recruit from California.
On3 seems to have an even higher opinion of him. They’ve ranked him No. 169 nationally and No. 12 among quarterbacks in their 2026 On300 list.
What does the future hold for Rios? Will Oklahoma State be his new home? Only time will tell, but it’s clear he’s got a bright future ahead.
