Texas A&M just hit a home run with their 2025 offensive line recruits, snagging one of the top classes in the nation. They ranked No. 7 in the On3 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings. That’s pretty amazing!
The star of the show? Five-star Lamont Rogers from Mesquite, Texas. He’s leading a pack that includes four-stars like Nelson McGuire, Marcus Garcia, and Jonte Newman. Building a strong offensive line was a big deal for head coach Mike Elko last year, and it’s gonna be just as important in 2026.
But let’s talk about the real prize: Jackson Cantwell. This guy’s the No. 1 recruit in the country from Nixa, Missouri. He’s a beast with some serious “eye-popping athleticism,” according to On3’s scouting team. Texas A&M has been all over him, getting him to visit the campus earlier this year and checking in on him at his school just this week.
Elko, along with offensive line coach Adam Cushing and running backs coach Trooper Taylor, made the journey to southeast Missouri just to see him. That shows how much they want him.
Recent visit helped the Aggies in a big way
Cantwell’s recent trip to Texas A&M was a game-changer for the Aggies. It had been a while since he visited, but he was blown away by what he saw.
“They made me feel like a priority this weekend,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons. “The message is that they can develop as well as anybody and that I’d be in a unique position to be competing for reps early due to their offensive line losing a lot of contributors this year and next.”
He really hit it off with Cushing and offensive coordinator Collin Klein.
Cantwell shared, “Talking ball with coach Cushing and coach Klein, meeting with coach Elko, learning about how they do the weight room, and meeting with the track coaches were some of the highlights. Coach Cushing’s ball knowledge and ability to teach stood out a lot too. How coach Klein operates his offense also caught my attention.”
Battle for Cantwell will be one to watch
The race to land Cantwell is heating up. Texas A&M is in the mix with other big names like Georgia, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Michigan, and Oklahoma. Cantwell plans to take four official visits this summer, narrowing down his choices soon.
Right now, he’s not playing favorites. No school stands out enough yet for him to commit to an official visit. But there’s a pattern to the schools he’s eyeing.
“The general consensus for me right now is SEC and Big Ten,” he said. “That’s been the theme of the schools I’ve visited, except for Miami. … That’s definitely one. Good offensive line play obviously helps. I think all the schools I’m still looking at either have a good offensive line now or are historically known for being able to develop those guys. A good relationship with the offensive line coach and the offensive line staff now that you can have multiple guys out there coaching. Those are some of the things I’m looking for there.”
So, what’s next for Cantwell? Only time will tell, but this battle for his commitment is going to be exciting to watch!
