Alabama’s Tyler Booker Selection Creates Unexpected Cowboys Trio

The NFL Draft kicked off Thursday night with 32 players hearing their names called in the first round. Teams across the league made their selections based on positional needs or simply took the best player available on their board. The draft continues Friday with rounds two and three.

The Dallas Cowboys addressed their offensive line need at pick No. 12, selecting Alabama guard Tyler Booker following Zack Martin’s retirement. Booker, a First Team All-American and two-time All-SEC selection, will join Dallas to protect quarterback Dak Prescott.

But there’s an unusual storyline developing in Dallas beyond Booker’s selection.

NFL analyst Ari Meirov pointed out that the Cowboys’ projected starting offensive line now features three players named Tyler – all first-round draft picks. Booker joins Tyler Smith (24th pick in 2022) and Tyler Guyton (29th pick in 2024) to form what some fans are already calling the “Tyler Trio.”

The Cowboys hope these three first-rounders can help rebuild the dominant offensive lines that defined their most successful recent seasons. Dallas previously featured standout linemen Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zack Martin when the team’s offense was at its peak.

Dallas holds the 44th overall pick when the draft resumes Friday, and interestingly, there are still more players named Tyler available on the board.

NFL Draft continues

The second and third rounds begin Friday evening, with rounds four through seven concluding the event on Saturday.
