ESPN NFL draft analyst Matt Miller compared Miami quarterback Cam Ward to Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love during a recent appearance on “NFL Live.”
Miller highlighted specific similarities between the two players.
“The arm strength, the velocity, the shortstop motion that he has, really, really good from Cam Ward,” Miller said.
Love has emerged as the Packers’ franchise quarterback since taking over as the starter in 2023. He led Green Bay to the divisional round of the playoffs in his first season as QB1.
Last season, Love threw for 3,389 yards and 25 touchdowns in 15 games.
Ward’s draft stock has risen significantly in recent weeks. The Miami quarterback threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns while completing 67.2 percent of his passes last season.
Like Love, Ward possesses exceptional arm strength and velocity. However, Miller noted that both quarterbacks need time to spot targets downfield, making offensive line protection crucial for their success.
The Tennessee Titans, who hold the No. 1 overall pick, have been increasingly linked to Ward. Tennessee has struggled to find a franchise quarterback but currently has below-average offensive line protection.
Several teams could potentially make trade offers to the Titans for the top selection to secure Ward’s services.

Many analysts now consider Love among the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL despite still having room for improvement.
While Ward’s transition to NFL success isn’t guaranteed, his physical tools have drawn significant attention from teams at the top of the draft.
