Arizona State had a pretty amazing run in the second year of the Kenny Dillingham era. They snagged the Big 12 title, got a bye in the College Football Playoff, and almost took down Texas in an intense 39-31 double overtime game.
Not too shabby for a team everyone thought would finish last!
The Sun Devils proved they were the real deal this past season. With Heisman hopeful Sam Leavitt set to return next year, Dillingham and his crew are eager to build on their success and aim even higher in 2025.
And they’re not planning to slow down anytime soon.
In college football, having a top-notch quarterback is crucial. Leavitt showed he’s one of the best out there as just a redshirt freshman.
But Dillingham, an Arizona State alum himself, isn’t just focused on the present; he’s got his eyes on the future, too.
There’s a lot of buzz about Jake Fette, a quarterback from El Paso’s Del Valle High. He committed to ASU back in September, before Leavitt became a big name. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 190 pounds, Fette has all the skills to keep ASU’s momentum going.
As a junior, Fette was on fire. He threw for 2,488 yards and 31 touchdowns with just one interception. Plus, he ran for another 589 yards and 11 touchdowns during an impressive 11-1 season.
Schools like Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU, and Auburn have shown interest in Fette recently. But he’s pumped about playing for Dillingham at Arizona State.
“You know being committed to ASU right now is a big-time thing,” Fette said. “Coming off a season like they did, all I can think about is how I can impact the school when I get there.”
“Coach Dilly and the guys up there did a tremendous job this year, and it just leads me to be more and more excited to be a Sun Devil.”
Fette has developed a strong bond with Offensive Coordinator Marcus Arroyo and Dillingham. He appreciates how they bring out the best in their players.
“Really mainly the culture they base their program around,” Fette said. “They don’t care how many stars you have or how many followers you have. They’re just looking for someone who loves the game and wants to ball.”
On3 ranks Fette as the No. 5 quarterback and No. 55 prospect overall, making him one of the top recruits. Besides the big-name schools already mentioned, Fette also has offers from Baylor, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, Kansas, and Cal. He’s one of four players committed to ASU’s 2026 class.
With young talent like Fette in the pipeline, the future looks bright for Arizona State. Could this be the start of a new era for the Sun Devils? Only time will tell!
