Auburn landed the nation’s top safety prospect for 2026 on Thursday when Bralan Womack committed to the Tigers.
The five-star safety from Hartfield Academy in Flowood, Mississippi, chose Auburn over Ohio State, Florida, and Texas A&M. Womack’s commitment was first reported by CBS Sports.
Womack ranks as the top safety and a consensus top-40 player nationally in the 2026 recruiting class.
The commitment gives Hugh Freeze and his staff a major recruiting victory after a challenging summer that included several decommitments and missed targets.
Top-Tier Production
Womack earned 2024 Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year honors after recording 39 tackles and eight interceptions on defense. He also contributed over 1,000 receiving yards on offense and multiple special teams touchdowns.
His versatility across all three phases makes him one of the most dynamic prospects in the entire 2026 cycle.
The safety’s recruitment came down to official visits with each of his four finalists. Auburn’s persistence and the presence of his sister, who plays softball for the Tigers, helped secure his commitment.
Recruiting Impact
Womack’s commitment moves Auburn from No. 54 to No. 35 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings for 2026.
He becomes the highest-rated pledge in a class that’s added seven commitments since July 1. The recent surge shows Freeze’s staff has regained momentum after early summer struggles.
Auburn’s secondary is already stockpiling talent from the 2025 class with top safeties and cornerbacks set to compete in the SEC.
Adding Womack ensures the unit will remain one of the Tigers’ strongest into the future.
Program Validation
The commitment represents more than a recruiting win for Freeze. It’s validation that Auburn can still win head-to-head battles against powerhouse programs.
Womack’s ball skills, leadership, and versatility make him a candidate to see early playing time once he arrives on campus.
For a fan base seeking proof of progress, the safety represents a statement addition that doesn’t erase previous misses but proves the Tigers remain competitive for elite talent.
Auburn now has its biggest prize for 2026 secured as Freeze and his staff look to build on this momentum and climb further in the rankings.
