Big Names Visit Jared Curtis, Nashville’s Rising QB Star
The home of Nashville Christian’s five-star quarterback, Jared Curtis, has been a busy place this January. A parade of college head coaches has come knocking, and on Thursday, two more big names from the SEC joined the lineup.
Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze and South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer are the latest to drop by and chat with Curtis. This young athlete is in the thick of a whirlwind recruitment journey.
Earlier this month, Curtis, who used to be committed to Georgia, narrowed down his list of top schools to six. *Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, and South Carolina* made the cut for the No. 4 overall prospect and top-ranked quarterback in the 2026 class.
Upcoming Visits and Big Decisions
Curtis has already planned official visits to check out the Ducks, Bulldogs, and Gamecocks in June. He’s also set an April visit to North Carolina after meeting with their new head coach, Bill Belichick. The whole process has been pretty fluid for Curtis since he reopened his recruitment last October.
“It was awesome,” Curtis shared with On3 after meeting Belichick. “Getting to meet him and talk to him for the first time was incredible. I reached out just two days before, and their quick response showed how interested they are in me.”
Auburn and South Carolina have been hot on Curtis’s trail ever since he decommitted from UGA. Both schools are off to a strong start in recruiting for the 2026 cycle. Auburn’s class already has six commits, ranking them at No. 3 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. South Carolina isn’t far behind, with five pledges and a No. 12 ranking.
Coaches on the Move
It’s not just the SEC that’s interested. Florida State‘s head coach Mike Norvell, Ohio State offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, and Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer have all stopped by to see what Curtis is all about this month.
“I’ll wait until official visits to make my decision,” Curtis told On3’s Chad Simmons in December. “I want to get out there more. Once official visits open up, I’ll explore the schools and see what stands out to me.”
He added that the coaching staff, his relationship with them, and the team they’re building are crucial factors in his decision. Curtis wants to be part of a class that makes a difference.
High School Success and What’s Next
As a junior, Curtis led Nashville Christian to an impressive 13-1 record and a state title last fall. Over 14 games, he threw for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns while rushing for 637 yards and another 18 scores. Pretty amazing, right?
With so many top schools eyeing him, it’s clear that Curtis’s future in football is bright. The next few months will be exciting as he visits campuses, meets coaches, and ultimately decides where he’ll continue his journey.
