Auburn wide receiver Malcolm Simmons plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens Jan. 2, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

The Alexander City, Alabama native arrived at Auburn in 2024 as part of the Tigers’ top-10 recruiting class. He made an immediate impact as a true freshman.

Simmons finished his first season with 40 receptions for 451 yards and three touchdowns. He also contributed as a punt returner.

He followed that with a productive sophomore campaign, totaling 25 catches for 457 yards and three touchdowns.

Simmons closed the season strong with back-to-back 100-yard performances. He recorded a career-high 149 receiving yards and a touchdown against Mercer. Then he led Auburn in the Iron Bowl with 143 yards on just three receptions and a score.

The move makes Simmons the third Auburn wide receiver planning to transfer. He joins Perry Thompson and Horatio Fields in entering the portal.

All three were among the Tigers’ top five receivers. That’s significant turnover at the position for Auburn.

Under new coach Alex Golesh, Auburn is expected to aggressively pursue portal additions. The Tigers are reshaping their receiving corps heading into 2026.

Simmons will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
