Bears Analyst Blasts Shane Waldron’s Coaching Decisions for Caleb Williams image

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams built his own film study room after offensive coordinator Shane Waldron stopped reviewing game tape with him, according to “Making Monsters With Taylor Doll” podcast.

The relationship between Williams and Waldron deteriorated during Chicago’s 5-12 season, which included just one NFC North victory against Green Bay in Week 18.

“He built his own film study room because Shane Waldron was not going over film with him,” Doll said.

Jacob Infante, NFL Draft analyst and Bears insider for Windy City Gridiron, called the situation “absurd coaching malpractice.”

It’s a miracle he was even decent with what was around him. The report by Taylor Doll of Shane Waldron not even going over tape with him is just absurd coaching malpractice.

The Bears started 4-2 before their season unraveled. Williams faced immediate pressure as Chicago’s franchise quarterback after being selected first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Detroit Lions‘ former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson takes over as Bears head coach for 2024, giving Williams a fresh start entering his second NFL season.

Williams, who won the Heisman Trophy at USC, hasn’t commented on the reports about his relationship with Waldron.

The Bears finished last in the NFC North, averaging 21.2 points per game. Williams threw for 2,024 yards with 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions in 13 starts.
