Aidan Chiles will enter the transfer portal, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported. The Michigan State quarterback’s decision marks his second transfer in three college seasons.
The move comes after Chiles spent two seasons as the Spartans’ starting quarterback. He originally signed with Oregon State as a four-star recruit before transferring to Michigan State in 2024.
Chiles has one season of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-3 quarterback followed head coach Jonathan Smith from Oregon State to Michigan State ahead of the 2024 season. He played a rotational role as a true freshman with the Beavers before becoming Michigan State’s primary starter.
Chiles appeared in 30 games across three seasons, including 21 with the Spartans.
His career numbers include 4,116 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns. He’s also contributed as a runner with 531 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.
Chiles threw 14 interceptions over three seasons. Only three came in his final season on 203 attempts.
Strong Finish at Michigan State
The quarterback showed his potential in several games during the 2024 season. His best performance came against Indiana, where he completed 27-of-33 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown while leading Michigan State in rushing with 48 yards.
Chiles started most games for the Spartans over his two seasons in East Lansing.
His decision adds another experienced quarterback to what’s expected to be an active transfer portal market this offseason. Programs across college football continue searching for proven starters with remaining eligibility.
