Matthew Wadleigh covers sports as a freelance writer for The Sporting News. Born and raised in Southern California, he grew up following San Diego sports teams—a challenging experience except when watching San Diego State basketball.
He studied journalism at Fresno State, where he had the opportunity to see future NFL stars Derek Carr and Davante Adams, NBA All-Star Paul George, and MLB slugger Aaron Judge compete during their college careers.
