Brett Favre thinks Ole Miss has what it takes to win a national championship this season.
The Hall of Fame quarterback praised Lane Kiffin’s Rebels on Monday’s episode of his 4th and Favre podcast. He called them “built to contend for a national championship” because of their balanced roster.
“Ole Miss, they could easily win it all. They’re playing great. They’re well coached. Got some dynamite players. They got a little spunk about them.”
Favre’s comments come after Ole Miss dominated The Citadel 49-0 on Saturday in their final tune-up before returning to SEC play.
Trinidad Chambliss threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Running back Kewan Lacy tied the school’s single-season rushing touchdown record with his 16th score. He needs just 88 more yards to reach his first 1,000-yard season.
Kiffin praised his team’s preparation for what could have been a trap game. “Our guys came prepared,” he said after the shutout victory.
The Rebels are entering uncharted territory with their first-ever College Football Playoff berth within reach.
Ole Miss sits at No. 6 in the rankings and heads to Vanderbilt on Saturday night. They’re firmly in position to host a Playoff game on campus if they can finish strong.
