Cade Klubnik is projected as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft after a breakout season at Clemson.
The former top recruit threw for 3,639 yards with 36 touchdowns and six interceptions in 14 games this season. He led the Tigers to the College Football Playoff.
That performance moved Klubnik up draft boards heading into next offseason.
Brentley Weissman of Pro Football Network projects the New York Jets will select Klubnik with the No. 2 overall pick in his latest three-round 2026 mock draft.
Justin Fields has a great chance to succeed in New York, and the Jets are doing everything in their power to make that happen. With that said, it is unlikely that Fields takes that next step as a starter. And if the Jets are picking this high in the draft, then it likely means Fields failed to establish himself.
Cade Klubnik is a player whose instincts, velocity and overall athleticism all stand out. If he continues to take steps forward like he did last season, he will undoubtedly be a top-five pick.
The Jets signed Justin Fields to a two-year deal this offseason to replace Aaron Rodgers. Fields hasn’t found consistent success in the NFL yet.
New York rebuilt its offense around whoever starts at quarterback. The team added Armand Membou in the first round to strengthen the offensive line.
The receiving corps includes Garrett Wilson and rookie tight end Mason Taylor.
The 2026 quarterback class is loaded with talent. Arch Manning, Drew Allar, and Garrett Nussmeier are all in the running for the top pick alongside Klubnik.
Klubnik showed dual-threat ability this season. He rushed for 463 yards and seven touchdowns in addition to his passing numbers.
The quarterback has a strong arm and good athleticism. His football IQ stands out on film.
Even if Fields plays well, the Jets might not want to pass on a potential franchise quarterback. The 2026 class offers several players who could change a team’s trajectory.
The Jets hope Fields plays well enough that they won’t have a top-five pick again. If he doesn’t, they’ll have strong options at the top of the draft.
