Coach Prime Delivers Powerful Message to Arch Manning: Be You image

Colorado coach Deion Sanders used his weekly appearance on Coach Prime’s Playbook with Romi Bean to deliver advice to one of college football’s most watched quarterbacks, Texas star Arch Manning.

When asked what guidance he’d offer the Longhorns’ quarterback, Sanders drew from the same lessons he teaches his own team and family.

“[Just] be you. Don’t placate to others, be you, and be the best you that you could possibly be. Quit trying to be whatever it is for them. And not that he’s doing that, but that’s what I told my sons. That’s what I tell my team. That’s what I tell everybody.”

For Coach Prime, the key to success is staying authentic.

“There’s so many people trying to pretend and trick or treat right here. It ain’t even Halloween and be something that they’re not. The way you succeed in life is to be the best you that you could possibly be consistently.”

That same theme carried into a story Sanders told about his own children. Following Colorado’s opening week loss, he revealed the Sanders family group text was buzzing with with pressure.

“Shedeur didn’t play well in his last outing. Shilo got released and they were like, Dad, come on, man, you got to step it up for the Sanders family. You cannot lose. You cannot lose. And we lost. So it’s like, come on, guys. The Sanders family is taking a beating right now. But I told him I’m going to get us back on the right track.”

The comments come as Manning continues developing as Texas’s quarterback of the future. The nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning has faced intense scrutiny since arriving in Austin.

Sanders’s advice reflects his broader philosophy about handling pressure in high-profile situations.
