Shedeur Sanders has faced an uphill battle to make the Cleveland Browns roster throughout the offseason. The former Colorado quarterback hasn’t changed his standing during rookie OTAs, minicamp, or training camp.

CBS Sports’ Carter Bahns gave Sanders a slim chance of making Cleveland’s final roster.

“Following his fifth-round selection, coupled with three more quarterback additions this offseason, Shedeur Sanders could be the odd man out on the Cleveland Browns’ depth chart,” Bahns wrote. “His lack of first-team reps in the opening days of training camp indicates that he faces an uphill battle to make the roster.”

NFL insider Mike Garafolo revealed that Cleveland won’t keep four quarterbacks on their active roster.

Garafolo sees Kenny Pickett as the only lock to stick with the Browns.

“You’re not keeping four quarterbacks. You got four on the roster here…You traded for Kenny Pickett, then to just get rid of him doesn’t make much sense. You could have four quarterbacks in the building just not necessarily on the roster so I think that’s the way it’s going to play out. Which of those rookies can put stuff on tape in the preseason that makes it hard for the Browns to then subject one of them to get through waivers to get onto the practice squad,” Garafolo said.

Sanders hasn’t improved his standing since being selected in the fifth round this past April. He’s done little to convince NFL front offices that he can develop into a franchise quarterback.

Sanders appeared disengaged and unprepared in meetings with coaching staffs during the pre-draft process.

His community work in Cleveland has been a positive, though it may not save him from roster cuts.
