The Cleveland Browns have emerged as a potential trade partner for Shedeur Sanders as training camp approaches next week. The Colorado Buffaloes legend’s name surfaced in discussions about possible quarterback moves.
One scenario has Sanders heading to the Buffalo Bills as a backup to Josh Allen. He’d serve as a developmental quarterback behind current backup Mitch Trubisky.
Dawg Pound Daily’s Mark Sipos called it a “low-risk, high-upside addition” for Buffalo.
“Josh Allen is locked in as the starter, and Mitchell Trubisky is back as the veteran backup. But behind them, there’s room for a developmental quarterback. Sanders would be a low-risk, high-upside addition who could sit behind Allen, learn in a structured offense, and grow without pressure. Buffalo’s staff could work on refining his timing and decision-making while giving him a stable environment to develop in the background.”
But trading for Sanders carries significant risks for Buffalo.
Sanders brings constant media attention wherever he goes. Bills Mafia prefers their team-first culture. They’ve got Allen as their understated leader who buys into that philosophy completely.
The fit doesn’t make sense.
Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reports Sanders will likely stay with the Browns. General manager Andrew Berry and his staff will “always check on anything like that,” but no major moves appear imminent.
Cabot told the “Baskin and Phelps” show on 92.3 The Fan the Browns aren’t looking to make major financial commitments this season.
“The Browns will always check in on anything like that. They will always do that. But I don’t get the sense that they are clamoring for a big, high-priced wide receiver this season. If they’re going to do something like that, it’s going to be next season, when they potentially add the quarterback of the future. This year, they’re probably not going to break the bank on something like that.”
More Sanders trade rumors will surface as training camp begins.
Don’t expect any blockbuster deals involving the former Colorado star anytime soon.
