The Tennessee Titans will likely select Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which begins in less than two weeks. Beyond the first selection, draft projections remain uncertain.
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders faces perhaps the widest range of potential landing spots among top prospects. While many analysts project him as a top-three selection, others suggest he could fall significantly in the first round.
The New Orleans Saints, who hold the No. 9 pick, have emerged as a possible destination for Sanders. Speculation increased after reports that current Saints quarterback Derek Carr suffered a shoulder injury that may require surgery.
When asked about his son potentially joining the Saints, Colorado head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders expressed positive sentiments.
“I like their colors,” the elder Sanders said. “I like the city. I like the food. I like the people. I like the possibilities.”
Shedeur Sanders, the reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns last season at Colorado.
While Sanders doesn’t possess exceptional arm strength or athleticism, he completed 74% of his passes in 2024 and finished his college career with a 70.1% completion rate.
The Saints struggled offensively last season, ranking 23rd in passing yards and 24th in scoring. No New Orleans receiver recorded more than 550 receiving yards.
New head coach Kellen Moore joined the Saints after serving as offensive coordinator for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Under Moore’s guidance, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts improved his efficiency and accuracy in 2024.
Moore’s track record with quarterback development could help Sanders maximize his potential if the Saints select him with the ninth pick.
