Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is scheduled to meet with the Las Vegas Raiders Monday evening, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
With just over a week until the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders’ landing spot remains uncertain.
Pelissero reported the Raiders, who hold the No. 6 pick, could target Sanders if he slides past the top three selections.
“The Raiders, sitting at No. 6, are in a position where if – if – Shedeur Sanders slides out of those top three spots, potentially, that could be in play,” Pelissero said on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football.”
Sanders could go as high as No. 2 to the Washington Commanders or fall to the second half of the first round, according to draft analysts.
The Raiders have made the playoffs just twice since 2002 and recently signed 34-year-old quarterback Geno Smith, reuniting him with new head coach Pete Carroll.
Smith’s addition might serve as a stopgap solution while the team develops a younger quarterback.
If the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants pass on Sanders with the No. 2 and No. 3 picks, his draft position becomes more unpredictable.
Sanders has generated mixed evaluations among scouts. Some analysts have questioned whether his draft stock is inflated by being the son of Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders, who coached him at Colorado.
Concerns exist among some teams about the elder Sanders potentially trying to influence his son’s professional career.
