Colorado head coach Deion Sanders traveled to Frisco, Texas for Big 12 Media Days alongside six current Buffaloes players. The team brought Julian “Juju” Lewis, Danny Scudero, Zach Atkins, Ben Finneseth, Naeten Mitchell and Cree Thomas to represent the program.
Sanders was scheduled as the fifth head coach to speak on the main stage at 3:20pm EST. ASU’s Kenny Dillingham, BYU’s Kalani Sitake, and Texas Tech’s Joey McGuire followed his appearance.
The Buffaloes enter the season with a completely different roster than last year’s 3-9 campaign.
Most of the program’s marquee names have transferred to other schools. Team officials believe this year’s squad is positioned to perform better despite the roster turnover.
Colorado brought three players expected to be major contributors in 2026. The quarterback competition remains ongoing, with Julian Lewis headlining the group of attendees. Danny Scudero has been featured prominently in Well Off Media content, earning praise from Coach Prime. Cree Thomas, a Tennessee transfer, has generated attention during spring workouts.
Deion Sanders – Colorado Buffaloes Live Updates
Sanders opened his remarks by thanking Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark. He called Yormark the best dressed commissioner in college football before addressing more serious topics.
The coach took time to remember Dominique Ponder, hoping his story would inspire young players to make better choices.
“We will wear patches on our jerseys this season to honor Dominique Ponder, his legacy should encourage kids to make responsible choices”
Sanders also addressed the passing of longtime Colorado reporter Adam Munsterteiger. Adam is survived by his wife Liz and their children. Liz attended the event and received recognition from Prime during his speech.
Sanders announced that Adam’s seat in both the press box and press room will remain vacant this season to honor Munsterteiger’s memory.
