Colorado coach Deion Sanders sparked questions about his coaching future after announcing plans to buy a home in the U.S. Virgin Islands during a recent family trip.
Deion Sanders Jr. posted a Well Off Media video from St. Croix this week. The footage shows Sanders attending a charity golf tournament with family members while discussing house hunting on the island.
“We’re in St. Croix and what we’re about to do today is stop by this golf tournament for a man I love — an extraordinary man that I support. And then we’re going looking for me. Yeah, we’re looking for a family crib on the island.”
The Hall of Fame coach said the trip focused on enjoying life while reflecting on his career’s demands.
Sanders enters his fourth season at Colorado with renewed optimism about the program he’s building in Boulder. Many analysts view the 2026 season as crucial for the Buffaloes’ trajectory.
But the home purchase announcement has Colorado fans worried about potential retirement plans.
“You know there’s levels to everything. When I became a man, I started putting away certain things so I could do certain things later.”
Sanders discussed balancing coaching pressures with his desire to slow down and appreciate life more. This perspective might stem from his relationship with girlfriend Karrueche Tran, who supported him through last year’s cancer diagnosis.
“This is beautiful. Trying to slow down and speed up at the same time.”
The comments immediately generated discussion among college football fans about Sanders’ long-term coaching plans.
He didn’t mention retirement directly. Sanders has consistently reaffirmed his commitment to Colorado as he continues building the program under what he calls the “Prime Effect.”
