Deion Sanders “Happy” with Any Team That Drafts Son Shedeur

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders says he’ll support his quarterback son Shedeur Sanders regardless of which NFL team selects him in the upcoming draft.

“Shedeur has told me, he’s talked to me intently about all the visits he’s had with all the teams, so I know where his heart is, I know where he wants to go,” Sanders said in an interview with “The Skip Bayless Show,” in a video that was posted Wednesday, per ESPN. “If it’s New York, it’s New York, if it’s Tennessee, if it’s Cleveland, if it’s still the Raiders, if it’s New Orleans, if it’s any of those teams that are seeking a quarterback, I’m happy with it, man. Because I know what he’s going to do to the organization.”

Draft projections for the younger Sanders vary widely, with some analysts placing him among the top three picks while others predict he could fall significantly lower.

The New York Giants, who hold the No. 6 pick, have been linked to Sanders in recent mock drafts. However, the Giants have already signed veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston this offseason, potentially limiting immediate playing time for any rookie quarterback.

Some NFL observers have speculated that Deion Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, might try to influence his son’s draft position or playing time. The Colorado head coach’s comments appear to address those concerns.

Shedeur Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns while completing 74% of his passes last season for Colorado.

The 23-year-old quarterback has become a polarizing prospect. Critics question his arm strength and demeanor, while supporters point to his accuracy on short and intermediate throws and his confidence on the field.

The NFL Draft begins April 25 in Detroit.
