Deion Sanders’ name keeps popping up in NFL coaching rumors, despite the Colorado coach saying he’s staying in Boulder.

Sanders led the Buffaloes to national attention early in his tenure. But he struggled through a tough 3-9 season in 2025.

When the year ended, the 58-year-old Hall of Famer publicly recommitted to the program. He promised to get Colorado back to a higher level.

The speculation won’t go away though.

Former NFL cornerback Adam Jones thinks Sanders would only consider one NFL job – with the Cleveland Browns. The connection makes sense since Cleveland drafted quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The father-son coaching arrangement worked in Boulder. Part of Sanders’ fanbase wants to see it happen at the NFL level too.

“I can see it happen,” Jones told TMZ. “Me knowing Prime, it would have to be Cleveland. He’s not going to go and coach against Shedeur.”

Jones stays close to Sanders’ inner circle. He remained close during Sanders’ battle with bladder cancer.

Sanders himself added fuel to the discussion on a recent podcast. He said he’d enjoy coaching his son at the professional level.

But Cleveland hasn’t expressed interest in Sanders right now.

The Browns are in the early stages of their head coaching search. They’ve focused on established NFL assistants so far. They also haven’t named Shedeur Sanders their projected Week 1 starter for 2026.

Sanders drew NFL curiosity after a 9-4 season in 2024, when Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy. A losing 2025 campaign has cooled that buzz.

For now, Sanders says his focus remains on Colorado. The speculation refuses to disappear though.
