Earl Little Jr. has transferred three times in his college career.
The cornerback spent two seasons at Alabama under Nick Saban, then two more at Florida State. Now he’s landed at Ohio State.
Little says he’s found something in Columbus that he never experienced before. His spring comments are already making waves across college football.
Little’s Comments Target Post-Saban Alabama
“At Alabama, we didn’t compete in the weight room how we do here. Literally with everything you’re doing at Ohio State, you’re gonna compete and you have to be your best every single day,” Little said.
That’s a pointed criticism. Fans have already taken notice across social media.
Little was in Tuscaloosa during 2022 and 2023, not under current coach Kalen DeBoer. His comments land squarely on Nick Saban’s Alabama program.
Whether it’s accurate or just transfer portal enthusiasm remains unclear.
James Smith, a defensive tackle who also transferred from Alabama to Ohio State, made similar comments about the program. He reportedly said the Buckeyes reminded him of the intensity from his freshman year in Tuscaloosa under Saban.
That complicates Little’s criticism. Maybe the standards slipped toward the end of Saban’s tenure. Or maybe both players are simply excited about Columbus and saying what their new team wants to hear.
It’s normal for transfers to praise their new programs.
Little is expected to start this fall. Ryan Day already flagged him as a spring standout during practice sessions.
He has one season to back up his words. If Little plays the way he talks, nobody will care what he said about Alabama.
The Buckeyes open their season with high expectations in the Big Ten.
