The LSU Tigers announced no official updates regarding Lane Kiffin’s recent social media absence, but the new head coach hasn’t posted to his accounts in eight days.
This marks an unusual stretch for Kiffin, who typically maintains an active online presence for recruiting and commentary.
The silence follows his recent feature in Vanity Fair, where Kiffin made comments about his former school that drew mixed reactions across the SEC.
Kiffin’s move from Ole Miss to LSU made him one of the most discussed coaching changes this offseason. His social media activity usually serves as both a recruiting tool and platform for his thoughts on college football.
It’s been 8 days since Lane Kiffin has tweeted, this has to be a record.

The timing follows backlash over his comments about Ole Miss needing to evolve after its history of segregation. While many agreed with Kiffin’s assessment, some SEC fans questioned the timing of his remarks.
“Kiffin also seems willing to indirectly invoke Ole Miss’s struggle to distance itself from symbols like the Confederate flag, Colonel Rebel, and the nickname ‘Ole Miss’ itself,” Vanity Fair’s Chris Smith wrote.
“When he was coaching there, Kiffin says, top recruits would tell him, ‘Hey, coach, we really like you. But my grandparents aren’t letting me move to Oxford, Mississippi.’ That doesn’t come up when you say Baton Rouge, Louisiana.”
“Parents were sitting here this weekend saying the campus’s diversity feels so great: ‘It feels like there’s no segregation. And we want that for our kid because that’s the real world,'” Kiffin told the publication.
He later added clarification about his comments.
“I just hope [my comment] comes across respectful to Ole Miss…. There are some things that I’m saying that are factual. They’re not shots.”
The social media break represents uncharacteristic behavior for Kiffin as he prepares for his first season with the Tigers.
LSU opens fall practice in six weeks, giving Kiffin time to focus on installing his system in Baton Rouge.
