Yahoo Sports announced Thursday it’s launching a season-long college fantasy football game for the 2026-27 season. The announcement included specific rules for rosters, drafts, and scoring systems.
The platform partnered with Publicis Sports as the exclusive advertising and marketing team for Yahoo’s College Fantasy Football game.
“College football fans live for Saturdays, and Yahoo College Fantasy Football is about to add to the excitement,” said Jarrod Schwarz, General Manager, Yahoo Sports. “We built this game to capture everything that makes the sport so special, giving fans a whole new reason to cheer for every touchdown, celebrate every big play, and get even more invested in the teams and players they already love.”
Roster and Draft Structure
Only players from Power 4 conferences will be available for drafts. That includes the ACC, SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12, plus Notre Dame.
Group of 5 programs won’t be featured in the game.
Yahoo expanded roster sizes to 18 players compared to the standard 15-player rosters in NFL fantasy football.
Scoring System Changes
The game introduces a team offense option alongside individual players. Fantasy managers can draft entire team offenses and earn points based on total points scored, offensive yards, and season wins.
Teams lose points for losses and turnovers under the new scoring system.
Individual players still earn points through traditional fantasy scoring methods.
Mock drafts and draft boards on Yahoo will open soon ahead of the August 29th season opener during Week 0.
The partnership with Publicis Sports aims to create targeted advertising opportunities within the college fantasy platform as Yahoo enters the college sports market.
