Jake Retzlaff will participate in BYU’s pro day rather than Tulane’s, despite playing his final college season with the Green Wave.
The decision comes one month before the 2026 NFL Draft. Retzlaff’s appearance at BYU was unexpected after his departure from the program.
BYU suspended Retzlaff before the 2024 season for violating the university’s honor code by engaging in premarital intercourse.
The suspension led Retzlaff to transfer to Tulane for his final season. He threw for 3,168 yards and 15 passing touchdowns while adding 634 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. The Green Wave reached the College Football Playoff under his leadership.
Retzlaff started one season at BYU, leading the Cougars to an 11-2 record. He posted 2,947 passing yards and 26 total touchdowns that season.
The quarterback skipped traditional combine drills including the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump and bench press. He focused on throwing sessions, connecting on deep balls to Chase Roberts and Carson Ryan.
“We’ve always been in contact with [Retzlaff]. Even though he wasn’t playing for us, he’s still a part of our family—once a Cougar, always a Cougar. We cheered for him as his team went to the playoffs last year, and I’m just really proud of what he’s been able to accomplish.”
BYU coach Kalani Sitake made those comments to the Salt Lake Tribune.
NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper projects Retzlaff as a sixth-round selection in the 2026 NFL Draft on April 23rd.
