Aidan Hutchinson says he’s feeling great and ready to return to action with the Detroit Lions after recovering from his gruesome leg injury.

The former Michigan star spoke during the Hall of Fame game broadcast about his recovery process. He told NBC that football’s return to his life has been welcome after months of rehabilitation.

“It’s been a long time without football in my life. Camp’s been fun so far, but I’m just — I can’t wait for that Week 1 in Lambeau. It’s going to be electric, man. It’s been a long offseason, so I’m ready to jump back into football.”

Hutchinson suffered a fractured tibia and fibula during Detroit’s win over Dallas in October. The injury required surgery and kept him out for the remainder of the season.

The defensive end emphasized that he’s moved past the mental hurdle of the injury.

“Really, the injury is an afterthought now. So, I just hope that once I start playing people will stop asking me and stop thinking about that injury. I’ve moved on and I can’t wait until people see me on TV again playing football.”

Hutchinson’s return is crucial for Detroit’s Super Bowl aspirations. He was having an outstanding season before the injury, establishing himself as one of the league’s top pass rushers.

The Lions open the 2025 season against Green Bay at Lambeau Field.

Detroit’s defense struggled without their star pass rusher last season. Hutchinson’s presence on the edge makes their entire defensive unit more effective.

The 25-year-old has worked extensively with the team’s medical staff during his recovery. Training camp will be his first real test since returning to full football activities.
