Florida State Seminoles Target 40-TD Quarterback in Transfer Portal

Florida State Seminoles Target 40-TD Quarterback in Transfer Portal image

Florida State reached out to Marcus Stokes, a Division II quarterback from West Florida who’s entered the transfer portal.

The Seminoles improved to 5-7 this season but still need help at quarterback. Stokes could provide that spark.

Stokes totaled 3,664 yards and 40 touchdowns this season for West Florida. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound dual-threat quarterback is a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, which goes to Division II’s top player.

Florida State isn’t alone in pursuing Stokes.

On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported Wednesday that multiple programs have contacted the quarterback since he entered the portal.

Stokes has the size and production to suggest he could handle the jump to FBS football. Some players develop later than others or don’t get noticed until they put up big numbers.

The Seminoles will need to compete with several other programs to land Stokes.

Florida State’s quarterback situation remains unsettled heading into the offseason. Adding a proven performer like Stokes could help address that need.
