The Minnesota Vikings confirmed Tuesday that wide receiver Rondale Moore suffered a season-ending knee injury during Saturday’s preseason game against the Houston Texans.
Moore was hurt in the second quarter while being tackled during a punt return. Coach Kevin O’Connell described it as a “pretty significant” knee injury, according to CBS Sports.
Tests confirmed WR Rondale Moore suffered a season-ending knee injury in Saturday’s preseason game.
The injury occurred to Moore’s left knee. He had to be carted off the field and was visibly upset, covering his face with a towel as he left.
This marks the second straight season Moore will miss due to knee injuries.
Moore suffered a season-ending right knee injury last year while with the Atlanta Falcons. He signed with Minnesota this offseason hoping for a fresh start, but his comeback attempt lasted just one preseason game.
The 5-foot-7 receiver was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons there, catching 135 passes for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns in 39 games.
Atlanta acquired Moore in a trade following the 2023 season. But his first knee injury prevented him from playing any games for the Falcons last year.
College Career at Purdue
Moore played three seasons at Purdue under former head coach Jeff Brohm.
As a true freshman in 2018, he broke school records for most all-purpose yards in a game (313) and season (2,215). Moore caught 29 passes for 387 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore.
Injuries plagued his final college season in 2020. A hamstring injury sidelined him for the first three games. The same injury continued causing problems and forced him to miss the final eight games with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain.
The Vikings defeated Houston 20-10 in Saturday’s preseason game where Moore was injured. Minnesota has not provided additional details about his recovery timeline or roster status.
