The Green Bay Packers could target former Georgia Bulldogs star Azeez Ojulari as they look to bolster their pass rush in free agency.
Ojulari remains available on the NFL free-agent market while many other edge rushers have already signed new contracts.
Freddie Boston of Lombardi Ave identified the 24-year-old as a realistic possibility for the Packers, who haven’t added any pass rushers during the first days of free agency.
“Azeez Ojulari would make a ton of sense. His name came up regularly as a possible trade deadline target last season,” Boston wrote. “It never happened, but the Packers could put that right in free agency.”
Ojulari spent four seasons with the New York Giants after being selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
His rookie season showed promise with 49 tackles and eight sacks, but injuries limited his production over the next three years.
The Marietta, Ga. native played three seasons at Georgia from 2018 through 2020. During his final year with the Bulldogs, he recorded 31 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks, leading the SEC in the latter category.
Throughout his college career, Ojulari tallied 71 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and 14 sacks.
Contract terms for Ojulari will be worth monitoring, especially after comparable pass rushers like Dayo Odeyingbo secured substantial deals with teams like the Chicago Bears.
