Bryce Underwood enrolled early at Michigan and has already caught the attention of former Wolverines quarterback Jack Tuttle during offseason workouts.

The five-star recruit arrives in Ann Arbor as the No. 1 recruit in the nation and signed one of the largest multi-year NIL deals in college football history.

Tuttle spent two seasons with Michigan before briefly joining the coaching staff this offseason. He’s now pursuing a career in sports media.

“I’ve seen Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields — that was my class. I’ve seen a lot of good football throwers, and I’ve been with Mike Penix at Indiana, obviously J.J. McCarthy here at Michigan. And I would say Bryce is right at the top with the best of them, and probably throws it better than a lot of those guys — which is scary to say.”

Michigan has shared clips of Underwood throwing during spring drills. The footage shows the arm talent that made him the top quarterback recruit in his class.

He’s competing with Mikey Keene for the starting job. The Fresno State transfer enrolled in December and brings starting experience to the quarterback room.

Both quarterbacks have been active throughout summer workouts as the team prepares for fall camp.

Underwood hasn’t taken a snap in college yet. But his presence during offseason work has people around the program talking about his potential.
