Big Decision Day for Tyler Merrill
Tyler Merrill, the standout offensive tackle from Cumberland Valley in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is set to make a big announcement. This Thursday at 2:20 pm ET, he’ll reveal his college choice live on the On3 Recruits YouTube Channel.
Who’s in the running? Some heavy hitters: Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Wisconsin.
Standing tall at 6-foot-6 and weighing 325 pounds, Merrill isn’t just any player. He’s ranked as the No. 82 prospect in the country by On3 Industry. That’s pretty impressive!
So, what does Merrill think about these top schools?
Alabama: “They’ve won multiple National Championships. A lot of legends have come out of there, and they keep producing great players.”
Clemson: “Amazing relationships and people. They’ve been National Champions in the last decade. Still a strong contender and a powerhouse.”
Notre Dame: “Known as O-line U. It’s where many top offensive linemen come from. Plus, it offers high-quality education and fantastic people.”
Penn State: “Close to home. Big Ten runner-ups with a solid football program. They produce excellent offensive linemen too.”
Wisconsin: “Also considered O-Line U. They’ve produced many top-notch players. Coach Blazek is a great guy.”
Right now, the buzz is around Notre Dame. After a recent visit to South Bend, Merrill seems to be leaning towards the Fighting Irish. With Marcus Freeman leading the charge, Notre Dame boasts On3’s No. 10 ranked recruiting class.
