Dylan Raiola has entered the transfer portal, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, giving Georgia a second chance at landing the quarterback who originally committed to the Bulldogs before flipping to Nebraska.
The No. 1 quarterback in his recruiting class completed 72% of his passes during his freshman season with the Cornhuskers in 2024.
Georgia lost out on Raiola late in his recruitment when he chose Nebraska over the Bulldogs. Now they’ll get another opportunity to pursue one of the top quarterback talents in college football.
Gunner Stockton has one year of eligibility remaining but participated in Senior Day ceremonies. If Stockton leaves Georgia, the Bulldogs would have an opening at quarterback.
The program has two young quarterbacks behind Stockton: redshirt freshman Ryan Puglisi and true freshman Ryan Montgomery.
Neither would prevent Georgia from offering Raiola the starting position.
Multiple programs will pursue Raiola during his transfer process. Texas Tech could emerge as a contender given Raiola’s connection to Patrick Mahomes. LSU represents another option where he could make an immediate impact.
But Georgia remains positioned to make a strong push.
The Bulldogs were in serious contention during Raiola’s initial recruitment. They can leverage that previous relationship as they attempt to land him this time around.
Raiola’s decision will unfold over the coming weeks as programs across the country prepare their pitches for one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the transfer portal.
For Georgia, landing Raiola would address their quarterback situation while adding a player they’ve coveted since his high school recruitment.
