Impressive Stats Reveal SEC Quarterback as Potential NFL Draft Sleeper image

Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart ranks first in multiple deep passing categories among NFL draft prospects, according to statistics shared by Warren Sharp on X Thursday night.

Dart led his quarterback class in target depth (11.9 yards), 20+ air yard rate (22%), and yards per attempt against the blitz (11.8 yards).

His accuracy stands out as well. Sharp’s data shows Dart ranked first in on-target rate for throws 10+ yards downfield (71%) and first in big-time throw rate (7%).

among this QB class, Jaxon Dart ranked:

#1 in target depth (11.9 yds)

#1 in 20+ air yard rate (22%)

#1 in YPA vs the blitz (11.8 yds)

he didn’t just chuck deep

he was accurate as well:

#1 in on-target rate on throws 10+ yards downfield (71%)

#1 in big time throw rate (7%)

Dart’s arm talent impressed evaluators at the NFL Combine as well.

Vinnie Iyer, senior NFL writer at The Sporting News, graded Dart as the top quarterback performer at the Combine.

“Dart came into the NFL Combine with the expected cool confidence in letting the ball rip during passing drills. He showed off his deep-ball laser from his strong frame while also delivering good accuracy on shorter routes. He didn’t run the 40, but his athletic upside could be seen in his frame and mechanics. Dart still has a fighting shot to sneak into the first round with a dazzling pro day in Oxford. At worst, the mentally and physically tough SEC product should be a priority second-rounder for QB-needy teams,” Iyer wrote.

Dart’s production at Ole Miss backs up the combine performance. In 2024, he led the SEC in completion percentage (69.3%), passing yards (4,279), and yards per attempt (10.8).

He threw 29 touchdowns with just six interceptions last season.

At 21 years old, Dart is the youngest quarterback in this draft class. He won’t turn 22 until May 13.

Despite his youth, Dart brings significant experience, appearing in 39 games for Ole Miss after transferring from USC, where he played six games in his freshman season.

His statistics improved in nearly every category during his three seasons in Oxford.

In a quarterback class that some analysts consider lacking top-end talent, Dart’s combination of deep passing accuracy and youth could make him an intriguing prospect for NFL teams.
