Iowa State has extended scholarship offers to two in-state prospects following their performances at a recent football camp.
Braylon Bingham from Pleasantville and Hayden Shannon from PCM both caught the attention of the Cyclones coaching staff during the camp.
Bingham led Pleasantville to a 6-3 record and a Class 1A state playoff berth last season. The multi-sport athlete intercepted six passes, returning one for a touchdown while recording nearly 50 tackles on defense.
He also quarterbacked the offense, throwing for 1,749 yards with 23 touchdowns against eight interceptions. Bingham added 368 rushing yards and eight more scores on the ground.
The junior-to-be averaged 28 points per game in basketball this winter and qualified for the state track championships. He’s also the ace pitcher for Pleasantville’s baseball team.
“After a great camp I am extremely blessed to receive an offer from Iowa State University,” Bingham posted on social media.
Shannon earned freshman All-American recognition from Football University after helping PCM reach the state semifinals with an 11-1 record.
The 6-foot-4, 275-pound lineman started all 12 games as a freshman and earned all-state honors. He’ll be a sophomore this fall.
“After a great camp I am blessed to receive an offer from Iowa State,” Shannon wrote on social media.
The Cyclones continue evaluating talent across Iowa as they build their recruiting pipeline. Bingham offers versatility as a dual-sport athlete while Shannon brings size to the offensive or defensive line.
