Seffner, Florida’s own Jaelen Waters, a top-notch cornerback from Armwood High School, has decided to step back from his commitment to the Florida Gators.

He initially committed to the Gators on June 15 but had previously pledged to Florida State too. At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Waters is making waves as a standout player. He’s ranked as the No. 120 overall prospect and the No. 11 cornerback in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. This ranking pulls together evaluations from all the big recruiting sites. And get this—he’s also the No. 19 player in Florida.

But here’s the thing: colleges are still hot on his trail. The Miami Hurricanes are going all out to win him over. They’ve even brought in Will Harris, previously with Florida, as their new defensive backs coach as of February 13. That’s a pretty bold move!

Back in January, Waters shared with On3’s Chad Simmons that Miami was a serious contender right alongside the Gators.

“Florida and Miami are two home schools for me because I live in Florida. They’re always pushing for me. It is Miami, the coaches want me there and it is always great to be around the people at Miami,” Waters said.

So, what’s next for Jaelen? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see where he decides to take his talents. Could he stay close to home with Miami, or will another school swoop in? Whatever he chooses, it’s sure to be a big deal.
