Michigan football continues building momentum under coach Sherrone Moore, according to Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt. The Wolverines finished 8-5 in 2024, defeating Ohio State and Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

The program secured a major recruiting win when five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood flipped his commitment from LSU to Michigan. Moore has maintained the culture established by former coach Jim Harbaugh, now with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Klatt discussed Michigan’s outlook on The Joel Klatt Show Thursday, including the team in his way-too-early top 10.

“Think about what they did from the moment they were able to flip Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 recruit in the country; thank you, Larry Ellison,” Klatt said. “Then they beat Ohio State. Then they beat Alabama. So, in this era where nobody gets to win their last game except for the national champion, maybe the only other team in the country that has real, positive sentiment moving forward and into the offseason is Michigan.”

The Wolverines’ defense shut down Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in their bowl victory. Most of that defensive unit returns for 2024.

“They were still excellent [defensively],” Klatt said. “This culture at Michigan remains, and it feels like Sherrone Moore has leaned into that even more.”

Michigan’s 2024 schedule features Oklahoma as its toughest non-conference opponent.

While several key players are heading to the NFL, the program’s recruiting success and returning defensive talent position Michigan for continued success under Moore’s leadership.
