John Legend made his way to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center this week, according to Ohio State Football’s social media accounts. The Grammy-winning artist visited the facilities during a stop in Columbus for his “Get Lifted 20th Anniversary Tour.”

Legend performed Monday night at the Schottenstein Center. Before the show, he toured Ohio State’s football facilities and met with the coaching staff.
The Springfield, Ohio native posed for photos with head coach Ryan Day and defensive assistant Matt Patricia. Patricia posted about the meeting on social media, writing “Always special to meet a Legend.”
Legend responded directly to Patricia’s post.
Great to meet you Coach! Love to see how you have our D playing!
In a separate comment, the artist reinforced his Ohio roots. “Born and raised in Springfield, Ohio. Buckeye for life! Thanks for hosting us!”
The visit coincided with Ohio State landing a commitment from Legend Bey, a four-star wide receiver in the class of 2026. Bey flipped his commitment from Tennessee to the Buckeyes on the same day.
Legend’s support for Ohio State spans more than a decade. In 2009, he posted on X about his football loyalties.
The only football team I’m truly loyal to is the Ohio St Buckeyes. In the NFL, I just like to watch a great game and great teams.
Earlier this year, Legend shared an Instagram selfie wearing a red Ohio State hoodie. The caption read simply “O-H!”
The artist has consistently displayed his Buckeye pride throughout his career. Whether performing on stage or posting on social media, Legend has never wavered in his support for his home state university.
His latest visit to Columbus reinforced that connection. From his earliest public statements about Ohio State to this week’s tour of the football facilities, Legend continues to represent for the Scarlet and Gray.
The timing of his visit during the heart of recruiting season added extra significance. Legend’s presence at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center came as Ohio State continues building its 2026 recruiting class.
