Texas lost out on consensus five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales on Friday when the 6-foot-5, 210-pound prospect committed to Indiana over the Longhorns, Alabama, Ohio State, and LSU. Sales announced his decision on The Pat McAfee Show.

The Lawrence North High School star from Indianapolis represents one of the biggest recruiting wins in Indiana program history.

Sales ranks as a top-10 prospect in the 2027 class according to both Rivals Industry and 247Sports Industry Composite rankings. 247Sports rates him as the nation’s top wide receiver prospect in the class.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian and wide receivers coach Chris Jackson had made Sales a priority target. The decision means one of the nation’s most sought-after offensive players chose to stay home and join the defending national champion Hoosiers.

Texas still holds a commitment from five-star wide receiver Easton Royal.

Keeping Royal becomes more critical now that Sales is off the board. Both Florida and LSU continue pursuing the Texas commit, according to reports.

Neither player can officially sign until the early signing period in December. Both recruitments will likely remain active throughout the fall.

The Longhorns still rank among the nation’s top recruiting programs in the 2027 cycle. Missing on Sales means Sarkisian and his staff will focus on protecting current commitments while pursuing other elite prospects as the 2026 season approaches.
