The Los Angeles Rams face two USC quarterbacks if they want to reach the Super Bowl.
Both potential opponents in the NFC Divisional Round and NFC Championship Game attended USC, just seven miles from SoFi Stadium.
The Trojans connection starts Sunday when the Rams travel to Chicago to face the Bears and Caleb Williams.
Williams was the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He’s shown significant improvement from his rookie season.
Matthew Stafford will rely on his experience to advance on the playoff stage.
If the Rams win, they’ll face the Seattle Seahawks in the next round. The matchup is already set.
The Seahawks are led by Sam Darnold in his first season in Seattle. Darnold was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, selected second among quarterbacks after Baker Mayfield.
Stafford was chosen first overall in the 2009 NFL Draft. He starred for the Detroit Lions before joining the Rams.
The USC connection appears to be coincidental rather than strategic.
Rams fans will hope the team handles both matchups regardless of where the quarterbacks attended college.
