Tennessee announced they’re targeting five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys as their top flip candidate for the 2026 recruiting class. The Volunteers are working to recover from quarterback Nico Iamaleava’s departure in April, which forced coaches to completely restructure their quarterback room plans.

Keys committed to LSU but continues expressing strong interest in Tennessee.

“Tennessee I’m in love with the coaches, recruits, players, all that. I like the environment, fanbase, all that type of stuff. They just make me feel comfortable.”

On3’s Chad Simmons reported Tennessee remains the most likely destination if Keys decommits from LSU.

The Volunteers already secured five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon for their 2026 class. Keys would complete a championship-level offensive foundation.

LSU isn’t conceding the recruitment battle.

On3’s Shea Dixon confirmed the Tigers recently restructured Keys’ NIL package to strengthen his commitment.

“The latest tidbit worth noting: LSU has recently restructured the NIL package for Keys, sources tell me. That has LSU carrying some increased confidence that the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2026 class remains on board with his commitment to the Tigers.”

Keys ranks as the top wide receiver prospect nationally in the 2026 class.

A to Z Sports’ Zach Ragan expects the recruitment to extend through December’s early signing period.

“This battle will likely continue until the early signing period begins in December. Tennessee certainly has a shot at being the team that signs Keys, but LSU clearly isn’t going down without a fight.”

Tennessee’s coaching staff has built strong relationships with Keys, current players, and multiple 2026 commits. The Volunteers are expected to match or exceed LSU’s NIL improvements to secure the nation’s premier receiver prospect.

The recruitment battle represents a critical test for both programs’ 2026 championship aspirations.
