Nebraska coach Matt Rhule dismissed speculation about quarterback Dylan Raiola’s future with the program Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters before the Cornhuskers’ Senior Day matchup against Iowa, Rhule was asked about a CBS Sports report from Chris Hummer suggesting Raiola might leave Lincoln after this season.

Rhule appeared surprised by the question.

“I haven’t seen that report. I haven’t seen that, so I don’t know anything about that. I would never get up here and talk about a player. I love Dylan like I love all my guys. He’s in there doing treatment right now. So I don’t know about that.”

The Nebraska coach’s response came from his weekly media session.

Raiola hasn’t addressed the speculation publicly. The freshman quarterback is currently recovering from injury.

The reports could prove to be nothing more than offseason noise. Raiola has previously expressed commitment to helping build Nebraska’s program.

In an April interview on Bussin’ With The Boys, Raiola discussed his role in recruiting efforts.

“I’m trying to help bring as much talent as I can here. Recruiting season now, everyone’s coming through to come see us, and I’m getting texts from recruiting people like, ‘Come see this guy, come see this guy.’ I’ve got class and all this stuff, but I’ll come say what’s up.”

“It’s fun. I mean, I remember being recruited, so I know how it feels.”

Those comments suggest Raiola was invested in Nebraska’s future just months ago.

The Cornhuskers finish their regular season against Iowa this weekend. How the team performs could influence any decisions about the program’s direction.

More clarity on Raiola’s status should emerge after Nebraska completes its season.
