The Miami Hurricanes landed another major piece for their 2027 recruiting class as Israel Abrams, a 4-star quarterback, announced his commitment on the Pat McAfee Show. The Montini Catholic signal-caller chose Miami over Kentucky, Auburn, Purdue, and Florida State.
Abrams has put up big numbers over his last two high school seasons. He’s thrown for 6,105 yards and 69 touchdowns during that span.
The Illinois native won the 2025 MaxPreps Player of the Year award after leading Montini Catholic to a perfect 14-0 season and a state championship.
Abrams becomes the eighth overall commit to Miami’s 2027 class, which currently ranks seventh nationally. He’s the fifth four-star prospect to join head coach Mario Cristobal’s recruiting haul for that cycle.

Miami’s Busy Offseason
The Hurricanes have been active this offseason following their loss to Indiana in the National Championship game. Miami has 42 incoming players for next season.
That total includes 30 high school recruits and 12 transfer portal additions.
Their biggest moves came from Duke, where former Miami head coach Manny Diaz had been coaching. Quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Cooper Barkate both transferred to Miami from the Blue Devils.
The duo formed a productive combination last season, accounting for 1,106 yards and seven touchdowns together. Mensah finished second nationally in both passing yards (3,973) and passing touchdowns (34).
ESPN’s latest SP+ rankings have Miami ranked eighth heading into the new season.
The Hurricanes open their season on Friday, September 4th, with a road game against Stanford.
