Pat McAfee sat down with Braylon Mullins immediately after the guard’s game-winning shot sent UConn back to the Final Four, according to The Pat McAfee Show.

McAfee opened by noting Mullins’ Indiana roots as he “punched a ticket back to Indianapolis.” The conversation quickly shifted to the shot itself.

Mullins said the moment still felt surreal.

The junior guard started 0-for-4 from the field but trusted his instincts when it mattered. With seconds remaining, he knew what needed to happen.

“I knew once I had the ball… I had to put one up. It came off my hand pretty well. It’s crazy that was the one that went in.”

McAfee asked about confidence, pointing out teammates could be heard on the CBS broadcast saying any shot Mullins takes has a chance. Mullins confirmed that belief never wavered despite his shooting struggles.

He didn’t back down on an off night.

Mullins admitted the emotions are still settling in, calling the experience “crazy to process.”

The interview featured an appearance from Mike Krzyzewski, who praised Mullins for delivering in crunch time. The former Duke coach offered congratulations and highlighted the pass that set up the shot.

“Congratulations, son. What an amazing moment. And how about your senior leader, (Alex) Karaban, having the confidence in you to make a historical pass before the historical shot.”

Mullins’ shot eliminated Duke and sent the defending champions to their third straight Final Four. UConn will face Illinois with the moment now cemented in March Madness history.

The shot will be replayed every tournament for years to come.
