Nebraska plans to fire offensive line coach Donovan Raiola after three seasons with the program, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Raiola is the uncle of sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola. He becomes the latest figure connected to the program’s star quarterback to leave as transfer speculation continues.
The move comes after weeks of questions about Dylan Raiola’s future in Lincoln.
A CBS Sports report suggested there’s “doubt” about his long-term plans with Nebraska. Head coach Matt Rhule pushed back on those reports in November, saying he had “no knowledge” of the former five-star recruit planning to transfer.
“I love Dylan like I love all my guys. He’s in there doing treatment right now. So I don’t know about that.”
Donovan Raiola joined the Cornhuskers in 2022. He previously coached with the Chicago Bears from 2018-21 and was kept on staff during Nebraska’s coaching transition before the 2023 season.
His next destination remains unclear.
Dylan Raiola is currently recovering from a broken fibula he suffered Nov. 1 against USC. Before the injury, he had thrown for 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns with six interceptions this season.
Across 22 career games, he’s totaled 4,819 yards and 31 touchdowns.
The Raiola family has been central to Nebraska’s recruiting efforts in recent years. Dylan originally starred at Buford High School in Georgia and committed to Georgia before flipping to Nebraska.
His father, Dominic Raiola, was an All-American center for the Cornhuskers.
His younger brother, Dayton Raiola, recently decommitted from Nebraska as a 2026 quarterback prospect. The move added to speculation about the family’s future with the program.
Rhule has maintained that Dylan remains a key part of Nebraska’s long-term plans. The coach has referenced a potential 2026 return, though the quarterback’s immediate plans remain uncertain.
