NFL mock drafts continue to flood the media landscape with just five days remaining until the draft begins. The Tennessee Titans, holding the first overall pick, appear poised to select Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
Ward performed well during his time with the Hurricanes. Miami has already moved on, bringing in Carson Beck with a substantial financial package that convinced him to bypass this year’s NFL Draft.
The New Orleans Saints, picking ninth overall, are likely seeking a quarterback as Derek Carr’s future remains uncertain following injury concerns.
While many early projections linked Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders to New Orleans, that connection seems to be fading. Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart has emerged as a potential target instead.
“And maybe Shedeur Sanders is the pick here, as many prognosticators have suggested. But Dart could very well be a better fit with rookie HC Kellen Moore,” wrote Nate Davis.
The Saints clearly need a quarterback for their future plans. Carr’s tenure appears to be winding down, and Spencer Rattler hasn’t established himself yet.
However, Colin Cowherd’s mock draft takes the Saints in a completely different direction, suggesting they might prioritize defense.
“They moved off Marcus Lattimore, sending him to the Commanders last season, so they need a No. 1 corner. I think [Johnson’s] great. He was hurt at Michigan, but I think he starts for everybody in the NFL. … I think Will Johnson is an exceptional player,” Colin Cowherd said.
Johnson showed standout ability at Michigan when healthy. If drafted by New Orleans, he could pair with Alontae Taylor, who has developed well since being selected two years ago.
