NFL Draft Analyst Predicts Jeremiah Smith’s Highly Likely NFL Future image

The Ohio State Buckeyes announced that wide receiver Jeremiah Smith will return to Columbus for his third season this fall. NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay believes Smith’s upcoming season could generate unprecedented draft buzz.

McShay has followed Smith’s development since he arrived on campus over two years ago. The analyst now compares Smith’s game to Calvin Johnson, the legendary Detroit Lions receiver.

But McShay went further than typical draft projections.

“I literally think he can be the best wide receiver of all time. He could be the best wide receiver in the history of the National Football League. I want you to think about that. I’m fired up and now he has a quarterback in his second year.”

McShay made those comments on his podcast, the “McShay Show.”

The quarterback McShay referenced is Julian Sayin. Sayin replaced Will Howard this past season and helped guide the Buckeyes to the College Football Playoff. Ohio State’s season ended with a Cotton Bowl loss to Miami, preventing a potential national championship repeat.

Smith now has a fresh opportunity for redemption this fall.

“Now, all of the coverage in the whole world is going to be all over him. But he’ll get his spots and I can’t wait to see him in the league.”

Smith’s draft positioning remains to be seen. McShay suggested the receiver could be selected in the top five picks, possibly even first overall.

If McShay’s prediction proves accurate, Smith would join elite company among the game’s greatest receivers.
