North Carolina extended a scholarship offer to LeGarrette Blount Jr., marking just the second Division I offer for the Class of 2028 prospect.

Blount Jr., a freshman at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona, announced the offer on social media Wednesday night. Marshall provided his first D1 offer on January 22.

Blessed to receive my 2nd D1 offer from North Carolina!!

The 5-foot-11, 158-pound running back is the son of LeGarrette Blount, who played four seasons under current UNC head coach Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots.

The elder Blount won three Super Bowl championships – two with the Patriots and one with the Philadelphia Eagles. He finished his nine-year NFL career with 6,308 rushing yards and 56 touchdowns across five teams.

LFG LB!!!!! A dawg if I ever seen one!!! Such a humble and respectful kid that does nothing but WORK!! I’m so proud of you and happy for you, son! You deserve everything coming your way and more, king! I love you so so much, my guy!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!

The Tar Heels are working to build future recruiting classes after finishing 247Sports’ 2025 rankings at No. 43 overall. Belichick and his staff have shown early aggression on the recruiting trail since his arrival.

Belichick, 72, signed a five-year contract through 2029 with North Carolina. The timeline would align with Blount Jr.’s potential collegiate career, though coaching contracts rarely guarantee full-term tenure.
